This is a beautifully turned off center spalted beech bowl. Each different angle reveals different patterns a quirks in the wood. The black lines, known as spalting, have formed from the natural decay of the wood adding marble style lines that contrast with the pale tone of the wood. I have left this bowl free of finish due to the more porous nature of the wood. It was a challenge to turn, but is a joy to look at and touch.
